BASIC PISTOL COURSE

Objective: To teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. You will also learn all the material needed to obtain the permit to own a firearm.

The course will be about 6-7 hours long and includes classroom and range time with both revolvers and semiautomatic pistols.  Students will learn rules for:

  • Pistol and revolver parts and their function
  • Gun safety rules
  • Firearms maintenance & cleaning
  • Firearms & ammunition storage
  • Types Ammunition
  • Shooting Fundamentals
  • Range rules
  • Opportunities and training exercises to help you continue your skills development and reinforce all that you have learned in class.

808 Gun Club will provide the firearms and ammunition that will be used during this course. Make sure to come with closed-toed shoes as students will be engaged in shooting in the range. Also wear t-shirts or tops with minimal skin exposure around the neck and shoulders to prevent potential brass burns. No refunds for classes once paid.

 

Russel Tanji

Russel is the owner of RSTA Consultant LLC and is a senior firearms instructor at 808 Gun Club.  His experience and extensive knowledge in firearms training throughout his career in the Honolulu Police Department and various expert roles in the state has him being a valuable part of our team.  He holds the Basic Pistol Class here at the 808 Gun Club, which is a requirement in order to obtain a pistol permit in the state of Hawaii.  

 

PRIVATE LESSONS

We offer one-on-one coaching from a variety of instructors that can touch upon anything from basic fundamentals for beginners, advanced skills for more experienced shooters, how to set up your firearm for home defense, or learn how to build a customized AR-15 for your needs.

A crash course for shooters looking to enter the world of competition shooting, including everything you need to know before shooting your first match.

USPSA/IPSC SKILLS I, II, & III

Looking to move up in the post-match results? We have seasoned competition shooters on staff that can help diagnose problem areas with your game and get you where you want to be. (Must complete courses in order.)

We offer 30 minute to 1 hour training blocks for one-on-one training.
